Breaking Fate Entertainment and Migliore Films continue their Poe-inspired anthology with a haunting new adaptation premiering November 14 at NIU’s Altgeld Hall Castle.
Breaking Fate Entertainment and Migliore Films have officially wrapped production on “Berenice”, the latest film in the anthology project “Evermore: Tales from the Mind of Poe.” The production has now entered post-production as the creative team begins shaping the final cut.
Based on the chilling short story by Edgar Allan Poe, “Berenice” continues the anthology’s exploration of gothic literature, psychological horror, obsession, grief, and madness. With principal photography complete, the film now moves into editing, sound design, music, color, and finishing work.

The film is written and directed by Domenic Migliore and produced by Willy Adkins. “Berenice” stars Mykal Alexander Rodriguez, Katelyn Lane, and John Dugan, best known to horror fans for portraying “Grandpa” in “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.” The film will also feature an original score by Ashsha Kin.
“Berenice” is scheduled to make its world premiere on Saturday, November 14, 2026, during the 2026 Dark Art and Oddities Con at Northern Illinois University’s historic Altgeld Hall Castle in DeKalb, Illinois.
The premiere setting could not be more fitting. Altgeld Hall, often referred to as NIU’s castle, provides a striking gothic backdrop for a film rooted in Poe’s world of fixation, illness, decay, and psychological unraveling. Dark Art and Oddities Con has become a gathering place for horror, strange art, folklore, paranormal themes, independent film, and the beautifully macabre, making it an ideal home for the next chapter of “Evermore.”

Originally published in 1835, Poe’s “Berenice” remains one of his most unsettling works. The story examines the fragile boundary between love, obsession, sickness, and madness, themes that continue to haunt readers nearly two centuries later. This new adaptation aims to preserve that sense of dread while bringing a fresh cinematic vision to modern audiences.
More details about the film, trailer release, and premiere screening information will be announced as post-production continues.
“Berenice” will premiere November 14, 2026 at Dark Art and Oddities Con inside NIU’s Altgeld Hall Castle.
