CHICAGO, IL, July 2026 — Filmmaker John Borowski has found continued success on the film festival circuit with his short film Just Another Day, a darkly comedic suspense film starring actress Beka.
Borowski, known for The John Wayne Gacy Murders: Life and Death in Chicago and H.H. Holmes: America’s First Serial Killer, reunites with Beka, whose credits include Mime Time and The Portrait. The film follows Harriet, a senior woman moving through what appears to be an ordinary day, only for the story to take a darkly comedic and suspenseful turn.
At its core, Just Another Day offers commentary on the pharmaceutical industry and the quiet frustrations of women trapped in unfulfilled lifelong marriages. The film gives Beka a character-driven role centered heavily on performance, timing, and subtle emotional tension.
“I love working with Beka because she is a true talent, a one take wonder,” Borowski said.
Now in its sixth month on the film festival circuit, Just Another Day has earned 28 official film festival selections and continues to screen for audiences. The short has already received 17 award wins, three nominations, one monthly pick, one finalist placement, eight semi-finalist placements, and one quarter-finalist selection.
Among its honors are Best Story at Cinema Soup Film Festival, Best Actress at Hollywood Blood Horror Festival, Best Horror-Comedy Short at Arthouse Festival of Beverly Hills, and Best Director at Monthly Future of Film Awards.
Borowski and Beka are now looking ahead to the Illinois Horror Movie Festival, where Just Another Day has been named an official selection. The festival is scheduled for October 2 and 3, 2026, in Milledgeville, Illinois.
